After MMAWeekly.com on Friday reported that Fedor Emelianenko was in talks to face Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva on January 29, representatives from both sides are now backtracking from that fight coming on that particular date.
According to Strikeforce spokesperson Mike Afromowitz, "It all depends where these negotiations take us."
As for M-1 Global's U.S. rep Evgeni Kogan, the January 29 date is not "on the table," but did say they appeared to be close to completing the negotiations.
"We are really hoping that we can finalize things as soon as possible," M-1 representative Evgeni Kogan told MMAjunkie.com. "We have been steadily working toward an agreement. And I think we are closer to it now than we have been in the past."

Penick's Analysis: It really should not be this difficult to get a fight together. This is probably still the fight that winds up taking place, but the longer they take, the longer the fight date gets pushed back, and longer distance their is between fights. Fedor's extended absences in these "negotiation" periods is making all sides look bad for not getting it together and getting him into the cage already. He's not injured, he lost in a minute and a half to a choke submission, and yet we're going on six months with him out of action, and the end of January makes seven. Push it back any further and it's just a completely unnecessary length of time when his current contract has a fight left on it.
