"[Anderson Silva] is a guy who's wiped out the 185-pound division. He really has. Not only has he wiped out a division, he beat a couple of guys at 205. That's why this whole debate over pound-for-pound ... I love Georges St. Pierre. He's awesome, he's a superstar and everything else. But he lost not too long ago to Matt Serra by knockout. [Anderson] has never lost in the UFC, and he's moved up a weight class and beat two f---ing tough guys at that weight... He's knocked out all the best guys. He hasn't lost a fight since 2006. It's almost 2011... I love Georges, I've been up here talking to everyone about him for a week. But Anderson Silva is the pound-for-pound best in the world."

-UFC President Dana White stands by his belief that Anderson Silva is still the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world at the UFC 124 post-fight press conference (transcribed by MMAFighting.com).

Penick's Analysis: White certainly has a valid stance on Silva's case for being the pound-for-pound king right now. All he's done is win, and he's coming up on five years of winning fights in the Octagon against some great fighters. At the same time, GSP has also cleaned out his division, and has avenged the only two losses on his career and has looked extremely dominant since that last loss in early 2007. Of course, which fighter is the best won't be determined unless or until they face each other, and that is a bout that will be clamored for throughout 2011.
