Josh Koscheck's surgery to repair a broken orbital bone has been delayed due to severe swelling, according to a report from Josh Gross at ESPN.com.

Koscheck was unable to fly home from Montreal to San Jose, Calif. due to air pockets that formed behind the break, so the UFC arranged for him and trainer Bob Cook to drive to Boston to repair the damage caused by Georges St. Pierre at UFC 124.

The bone was broken during the first round of their headlining bout last Saturday night, and Koscheck gutted through the rest of the five round fight despite the damage. Now, due to the swelling, surgery that had been scheduled to be completed by today will take place next week.

Koscheck and Cook will remain in Boston until Koscheck can undergo the procedure.

Penick's Analysis: That's unfortunate for Koscheck that he's stuck away from home for an extra week, but at least he'll be getting it taken care of. Hopefully he didn't suffer too much extra damage by fighting the rest of the way in that fight, as the fact that this injury occurred in the first round really drives the point home that the fight should have been stopped.
