A previously reported heavyweight bout between Daniel Cormier and Devin Cole will not be the only headliner on the card, as it will share the bill with a welterweight bout between Tyron Woodley and Tarec Saffiedine.
The organization then confirmed the other three bouts scheduled for the January 7 card in Nashville, Tenn. following the event. The card will feature Yancy Medeiros vs. John Salter, Julia Budd vs. Amanda Nunes, and Nate Moore vs. Nate Coy.
The event will take place from the Nashville Municipal Auditorium, and the event will air live on Showtime.
Penick's Analysis: While I think the Woodley-Saffiedine bout is just an excellent welterweight bout, I can't help but wonder why it's taking place on a Challengers card. They made a big deal in October about Woodley "graduating" from the Challengers cards in October, and it's not as if he was disappointing in his fight with Andre Galvao. No, he blasted past him in under two minutes, and this, despite how they'll spin it, is definitely a demotion just based on the sponsorships available to him by being on a Challengers card instead of one of the major events. But, that contention aside, this is one of the best fights they've put together from their prospects, and it's a step up in competition for each guy. I'm very much excited for this fight.
