Diego "Nightmare" Sanchez will indeed stick around in the welterweight division for a bit longer, as MMAJunkie.com reports that Sanchez will meet Martin Kampmann in what will likely be the main event of the UFC's third card on Versus.

Per the report, UFC on Versus 3 is expected to take place on Thursday, March 3, though the location and venue for the event have not yet been finalized.

Sanchez, the very first winner of the UFC's Ultimate Fighter reality show, bounced back in impressive fashion from a two fight losing skid when he defeated Paulo Thiago at UFC 121 in October. He had taken a detour in the lightweight division, working his way up to a title shot against B.J. Penn in December of 2009, but the one sided loss sent him back up to welterweight. His first fight back didn't go as planned, and he was upset by Brit John Hathaway at UFc 114 in May. But the impressive win over Thiago has him back on track in the division.

Kampmann picked up an impressive win over Thiago earlier this year as well, besting the Brazilian by unanimous decision in June. However, Kampmann was defeated by the debuting Jake Shields at UFC 121 by split decision, handing him his third loss in eleven fights in the UFC.

UFC on Versus 3 is the first of four UFC events that will air on the network as part of a new deal in 2011.

Penick's Analysis: I love this fight. Sanchez came back strong against Thiago in October and looked as good as we've seen him in his career. Kampmann, while he was stifled by the dominant top game of Jake Shields, remains one of the most dangerous fighters in the division. This looks to be an action packed bout in the welterweight division, and I think it's a better fight than the two Versus headliners in 2010 with Jon Jones on top. Not that Jones wasn't impressive as all hell in those fights, but Sanchez-Kampmann is a very important fight for both fighters and I believe should be more competitive than those previous Versus card main events.
