Kyle was tapped as a replacement when Overeem was forced out of the bout over the weekend with an elbow injury. He has won five straight fights, and is 8-1 with one no contest over his last ten fights. The sole loss was in one of the few heavyweight fights Kyle has taken recently, to Fabricio Werdum in August of 2009 in Werdum's Strikeforce debut.
Silva's last loss also came against Werdum in a bout the two had on CBS last November. Following that decision loss, Silva bounced back with a win over Andrei Arlovski in June.
Kyle was rumored to be the next fight in Strikeforce for Gegard Mousasi in February, but it's unknown whether that fight will still take place.

Penick's Analysis: I don't know that there would have been too many other options on a week's notice, but they needed a fight for the card and it's probably as good as they were going to get. Kyle's been fighting at light heavyweight, so he'll come into this at his walking around weight without having to cut anything, but he'll be at a significant disadvantage in the weight department against "Bigfoot."
